Open Call for Papers

We are pleased to announce a special thematic edition of an e-book on Desinstitucionalization of children and young people in Europe to be released together with authors at ICCA (International Conference on Childhood and Adolescence) 2024.

Since ICCA first edition in 2017 that Desinstitucionalization of children and young people has had a place in the programme. Now, after its sixth edition (with hundreds of attendees per edition) and considering that ICCA has clearly become a space where International experts in the field of Desinstitucionalization of children and young people come together to exchange knowledge in the field, we considered that this would be a great opportunity to announce a special thematic edition of an e-book in this field.

How would you characterize the alternative care system of your country? How has action been positioned in the field of Deinstitutionalization of children and young people during the last 6 years in your country? How has the pandemic impacted the field of Deinstitutionalization of children and young people, and how it is expected to impact in the near future?

This e-book aims to bring together views from experts from different spheres, academics, stakeholders, and activists for a joint reflection on the present and future situation of Deinstitutionalization with reference to the consequences of the uncertain times in which we live in. Its aim is also to give an accurate view of the different alternative care systems in Europe and how they are coping with the pandemic context and, if so, how national systems are accounting for its impacts in the future.

This e-book intends to serve as an opportunity to consolidate relevant knowledge on children’s rights in different countries, and consequently to contribute to debates and reforms on the deinstitutionalization of children and young people at an International level.
